Michael Jordan

Owner
Reo Appliances

-REO Appliance did not close and did not burn down. In fact, it is under new ownership with a renewed commitment to customer service.
"I'm excited and looking forward to expanding the service and importance to customer relationships," new owner Mike Jordan said. "Not that it's bad now, but we'll maintain that service and commitment."
REO currently has an A-plus rating with the Better Business Bureau.
Jordan has been working with REO for 22 years as a technician and is happy to be continuing the legacy of the long-time Norwalk business. He is also happy to be employing the eight workers there. One of the former owners, Joseph Esposito, will continue working with the business while Jordan takes over.
"It's been a back-and-forth thing for years," Jordan said of taking over the business from Esposito and other former owner William Lafontaine. "My dream has been to one day own the company since I started working here. Finally that is coming to fruition."
Brian Griffin, vice president of the Greater Norwalk Chamber of Commerce, said: "Although we are sad to see the prior owners depart, and we thank them for all their support over the years, we are glad to see this very fine business continue here in Norwalk, and we look forward to their involvement in the community for many years to come."
REO was founded in 1952 on Fort Point Street. It has been at its current location at 233 East Ave. since 1995.
The building is currently for sale, but REO will remain there while it is on the market. Jordan will continue the business even when the building sells, event at a different location if necessary.
Speaking of the building ... it was not damaged or impacted in any way by the fire that raged through the adjacent Ludlow Shopping Centre. The buildings are not connected.
For now, Jordan plans to downscale the options in the showroom and increase the emphasis on servicing appliances. If sales pick up, he may offer more in the showroom.
"I've been doing service for 40 years and the technicians here have all been doing it for 20 years or better," Jordan said. "If sales start to jump, who knows? We have a lot of loyal customers and still have a nice selection of appliances here. We specialize in high-end appliances, but we do all appliances. We're highly skilled at repairing and maintaining high-end appliances."
Jordan said he has listened to customer feedback over the years and will institute some changes in how the technicians present themselves.
"The service will be more professional and respectful of the customers and their property," he said.
